Dear Sir/Madam

The Immigration Department in KL stated that Malaysian citizens residing overseas are not exempted from applying MYCARD.  However, they are not expected to rush home for  that purpose as the deadline  for  submitting application is yet to be determined by the government.  Only those who has submitted application after 31 December 2005 will have to pay RM20.00, and earlier than this date need not pay.

2.   Meanwhile the old ID card (the blue colour, with LR thumb-prints on both sides of the photographs) are still valid and the government does not propose to cancell this old cards yet.

3.   Notwitstanding the above, all Malaysian citizens are encouraged to change their old ID to MYCARD and they should do so when they have the chance to go back to Malaysia in the near future.

Kind inform and advise all Malaysian citizens who are member of your association on the above.

Thank you.

Yours sincerely,

       -sgd-
