MyKad latest news: RM10 Fee For MyKad Conversion, Free For First-timers
PUTRAJAYA, Jan 4 (Bernama) -- The Cabinet Wednesday decided that a fee of RM10 would be charged for converting the old identity card into MyKad beginning this year, Home Minister Datuk Seri Azmi Khalid said.
However, no fee would be charged for children aged 12 who would be applying for the MyKad for the first time, he told reporters at a special media conference on the MyKad fee at his ministry here.
"Parents need not have any doubt.
Bring your children who have reached the age of 12 to the National Registration
Department (JPN) nationwide to get their MyKad free of charge," Azmi said.
For adults, including those who have reached the age of 18, they would have to
pay a fee of RM10 each for the MyKad converted after Jan 1 whether for single or
multiple applications.
The single MyKad application only contains personal information while the one
for multiple applications contains additional information such as driving
licence and passport besides other facilities such as ‘Touch & Go’ and so on.
